Did They Make the Oasis Documentary for Me?

This is a review of the Oasis documentary from an American living in the middle of the country in Austin, Texas. Not your typical Oasis fan. But I was back then, stayed true to Team Noel, and was duly rewarded.

Took my youngest son to Chicago for a show, and then he later saw them at the Rose Bowl as well. There’s a moment in the film where Noel talks about the reward of seeing fathers and sons at the show. Obviously, this hit pretty hard, because I was one of those guys.

And it was magical.

There’s never been a second coming like this musically, and it’s like I said the other day in a blog entry. They mean so much to so many people, and the fact that they’re back is helping. Like, it’s actually helping the world. I believe this.

There’s no music like this now. And I don’t know if the world we’ve got today can produce something like that. But I’m thinking it can’t.

I’ve also never really seen a documentary that captures what it was like to be there in the excitement. And the fact that these guys still didn’t explain how the hell all this happened again is the most Oasis thing possible.

I was very angry Peggy didn’t show up. I was waiting for that moment, but I also cried through about half of it, so I’m not sure if that would have helped my mental state at all.

This is the payoff for being American and loving Oasis and not having a lot of people around you. Because they did finally conquer America. They did it.

It’s the last true monster rock band standing.

I know from writing and playing that music is all about emotional impact, and all of our memories are embedded feelings, not material things. I can’t remember anything that’s happened. But I can remember the way I felt.

And last night brought back how amazing it was to be there at the stadium with one of my guys, taking it all in.

At the end of the film, I left with a feeling of, although I do a lot of music, I could do a lot more.

And why wouldn’t you try to make this every part of your life?

If they can do it, any of us can.
