Enough Sense Overriding Desire
I had what I like to call a Henry Hill weekend.
You guys remember in Goodfellas when Henry Hill was driving around looking up, and the chopper was chasing him everywhere, and he just had to get some schizz done.
I had nine hours of gigs in two days. Two DJ gigs and a bass gig, and everything worked out.
There were problems, lots of problems. My iPad taking a dump and having to switch to my computer. Weird distortion issues in a speaker. A fill-in sound guy at the Hole in the Wall for our first gig. You know, tons of things, but there's always problems.
It's how you react to them and fix them and, you know, don't freak out because it's not like the gig's not gonna happen. It's not like music is not gonna be played through the speakers.
These are things that just, through experience, trial and error, and patience, really work themselves out.
An amazing weekend.
I think I found the bass for me, randomly. Found a super cheap one. That one did amazing.
And I just really got to spend a lot of time with my oldest son, my wife, and a bunch of friends.
Friends: we all got in an argument. We all made up. Same with the band. You know, it's can be great out there if you go out and try to live it.
On top of that, I turned 55 on Friday.
Never in my wildest would I ever have thought that I'd be so busy doing so many gigs and so much music. And honestly, so much social media at this age.
But it's all working, and I'm going keep doing it until it doesn't.
And maybe at some point, the world will tell me to do something different.
I just hope that I have the patience, the knowledge, and enough sense overriding desire to listen when it's time to do more or stop.
