Wake Up, Turn It On, and Go
After much thought, consideration, and wasting of time, I’ve come up with a pretty inspirational little turn-it-on-and-go jam station at the house.
What’s included? Roland SP-404MKII, which seems to be my most used piece of gear outside of a bass. It’s full of samples, full of a bunch of random stuff that I can’t remember doing. The ever-trusty Roland System-1, 25-key, from the mid-2010s. A beautiful instrument. And the Cyclone Analogic TT-303, which I don’t know well enough, but I’m trying to learn. And want to learn.
Everything runs into the SP-404. Had some random samples and drum samples on a randomly selected project, and just went with it.
I got everything as close to key as I could, and then went. Don’t really remember making the drum sequences, but I do know that I made them.
Anyway, I don’t really know the TT-303 at this point, but I came up with something super dank that I really like.
So the demo’s here.
I think there’s a lot of promise for this setup. I’m going to try to do it in the morning, my routine of getting down there at 6 a.m. Every morning.
The idea is, I know the System-1 like the back of my hand. I kind of know the SP-404, but there’s so much that it does that I don’t know how to do.
And then the TT-303, I just want to learn deeply. So interesting to me, and it’s such a cool instrument. For example, I look forward to using more than one pattern! It’s got so many limitations, and so many cool things about it that I think a lot of good stuff will come out.
But to say that this track is underground dance is an understatement. Dank as possible. UnAIable!
And since I stopped paying for SoundCloud, all I’ve got is YouTube. No one knows what SoundCloud is anyway, and everyone knows what YouTube is, so hopefully this gets some plays.
If not, I totally understand.
But maybe it’ll even get some blog traffic. You guys can have some friends to read along with.
Happy Friday.
